The Silicon Valley Employers Forum (SVEF) was founded in 1994 as a means by which Silicon Valley-based employers could pool their collective intelligence regarding corporate benefits. Today, SVEF is a nationally recognized employer coalition for the technology sector.

In 2003, in direct response to members needs, an international arm (Silicon Valley Employers International Forum or SVEIF) was launched. SVEIF members need not be a member of SVEF and work together to benchmark and share best practices around global benefit management.

Key Goals and Objectives

SVEF strives to:

  • Maximize value to its members by moderating costs and improving quality for employees and their families.
  • Increase efficiencies through the adoption of technological solutions.
  • Establish vendor standards for excellence.
  • Develop and implement benchmarking tools that support members' strategic and tactical needs.
  • Provide a forum that stimulates new ideas, supports sharing of best practices and encourages the identification of effective strategies and solutions.

In 2000, SVEF became an affiliate member of the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH). This relationship provides SVEF members access to PBGH initiatives. SVEF maintains its own Board, membership criteria, dues structure and organizational goals and objectives.

Governance

SVEF and SVEIF are governed by their two distinct Boards of Directors. Information developed and shared through meetings and activities is considered proprietary and confidential unless otherwise determined by the Boards of Directors.
